Standing in the Shadows of Motown

There are incredible voices. And there are incredible bands. When the two get together, its a joy to experience. The combination of The Funk Brothers and Joan Osborne certainly is that. But the history behind this performance is the really cool part.
This is a clip from the documentary Standing in the Shadows of Motown. Its about the most famous band youve never heard of. The Funk Brothers was the house band for Motown Records. Its members played on most Motown recordings from 1959 to 1972. But the house band was almost never credited.
The band backed up popular singers, including the Temptations, the Supremes, Stevie Wonder and many more. They reportedly played on more No. 1 records than the Beatles, Elvis, the Rolling Stones and the Beach Boys combined.
