of the water, it's the heat that's in the water.

It's the amount of heat that's put into the water that heats your place. Size/capacity of the heating unit doesn't matter, it's the BTU input that does.

A heat loss should be the first step.

electric hot water heater used for hydronic baseboard

    hello,
can you provide me with information regarding
the use of a 40 gallon electric
hot water heater to run my three zone baseboard
    heating system.
I have a total of 400 feet of 3/4" piping and
calulated the volume of water used to be just under
    10 gallons.
Is this feasable, effecient, and what parts would I need to make this work.
    thanks

    I wouldn't do that

returning water will quickly mix down the hot water in the tank, and unless the tank has those Godzilla heating elements in it, it will take it a long time to recover.

Also, unless you're in an area with really low electric rates, you can probably get a better cost-per-BTU from gas or even oil.

Have you done a heat-loss on your house?
