Look at Fernco proflex or strong back series
http://www.fernco.com/proflex.asp
All are approved for venting lol, just not what you are thinking
Remember the thin rubber couplings on 90% furnaces? they worked
Best regards-

Does anyone know of a manufacturer...
that approves their coupling for use in a flue pipe application. We have to make a transition from PVC to Stainless Steel and I'm thinking that a no hub coupling is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Mission says NO, chemically compatible, but nothing in 3" X 3.5"

I wonder if any manufacturer will "approve" their couplings for this application. Would the PCV manufacturers approve their pipe for vent pipes? In a vertical pipe, a fernco might work, but probably not in a horizontal pipe. A shielded coupling would be better. I think the most important thing is to find one that fits properly. They make couplings that go from PVC x TWP (thin wall plastic), and PVC x copper. Have you tried these? A SS fitting, like a coupling or a 90, might fit better than the plain end of a pipe.

Have you looked at novaflex.com go to the Z-flex section then click on the appliance adapters. They have a universal appliance adapter that may be what you are looking for.0 -

Clampall makes a transition bushing from pipe size approx. 3.5 to 3.125. It is used when plumbers transition fron IPS to copper DWV. I don't see any compatability issues only temperature issues.

I e-mailed Mission Rubber
about max temperature for their end caps for use on solar tubing installations. 212F is the limit for their neoprene based product.

Just spitballin' here, but...
...can you increase the 3.5" to 4" for a short section? You'd have more 4" x 3" options.

A Possible source
Weil-McLain uses a rubber and stainless banded type connector on the Ultra Boiler. Perhaps they could suggest an answer.0
