You could have a much more comfortable setup with zones per floor and programable thermoststats.

I have recently purchased a townhome in the Lehigh Valley, PA. It has a relatively new (<3 yrs) Trane XL14i heat pump system. The house is approximately 1500 square feet and has new Pella windows throughout. If I plan on living here for 3-5 years before moving on, is it worth my while to convert what is now 1 zone for the whole house into 2 or 3 zones? I'm afraid that I may not get my investment back.

It's not that we're too cold or too hot. I'm looking into it from a purely financial standpoint... Will my electric bills be lowered enough to net me a savings after the cost of installation?0 -
Part of the cost to zone has to do with the design of the system. If trunks serve the areas to be zoned, it may be relatively inexpensive. If not, it gets complicated. The comfort would be improved, especially if you zone by level but the price is unique to your house. You're in my neighborhood so if you want me to have a look, give me a call.
