Pinch Heating for the Seattle Mariners (Job Pics) (The Yougster)

I have been meaning to post these for a few weeks but I have been too busy.
We got called in on Monday morning to engineer up a system for heating the benches in the Seattle Mariners dugouts. We have had a record year for cold weather out here and the players were complaining that the electric fans weren't doing their job.
They approved the PO on Tuesday morning and we had the rad's air-freighted from New Hampshire.
Built the manifolds for the rads Wednesday and Thursday. At 5PM on Thursday we had everything ready for the rads, all we had left to do was drop them into place.
By 9PM on Thursday we had all the rads running and balanced. And they performed just like we said they would. We found that we can maintain the benches at 107 degrees on a 40 degree day. The players find the benches comfortable at around 100 degrees.
The funnest part is that I can see my work every time I watch a home game on TV. If you guys happen to be watching a game at Safeco you should see if you can spot em!!

Looks great!
Nice Job !!
I too would like to see the heating plant side.
BTW, in case you did not get the memo, it's not PC to heat the great outdoors here on the wall : (
I hope with all those warm backsides they have a good year, except when playing the Yanks! lol . You did do the visitor side also ?

Good Question
Do the visitors get the nice heat also, or that another home field advantage??? WW

Ya, we did the visitor side too. It is major league rules. In fact the visitors have to get the same food, and clubhouse luxuries.
We tied the rads into the main heating system for the stadium which I have been servicing now for 5 years. For heating they have 8 Aerco Benchmark 2 million BTU boilers, and for domestic they have 6 Aerco KC-1000 1 million BTU water heaters.
The field has radiant heating as well. I believe Roth tubing was used. If needed they can pull the tarp over the field and grow grass 4 times faster with the heat. However to the best of my knowledge it has never been used.0 -
Nice!!
Nice application. Hope it helps their batting.
Did you use the TRV's on the radiators or are they "running wild"?

Hey Paul,
We tried TRV's but they wouldn't allow the benches to get warm enough. I ended up putting them on a modulating 4 way valve with a constant set-point on a PID loop that can be adjusted in the Metasys remotely.0 -
The only thing is now, when ever they lose I am going to blame
you Josh. Might just make it easier to swallow. Tim0 -
Go ahead my friend! We need to blame someone! I blame Big Richie.0
