UB90 Mystery Air Problem.
Here's the situation. Installed UB90 boiler for customer about 2 years ago, about 1 year ago. Used pumping away piping method and followed manufacturer instructions for near boiler piping. Customer began to complain about water noise in some of the baseboard. A plumber had improperly installed a kick heater, we thought he might have caused the air problem so we repiped the kick so that it would be in parallel rather than in series. Couple months later, same problem. We thought our taco air scoop might be insufficient to remove the air--so we installed a spirovent. Couple months later--same problem. No apparent leaks on the system, water pressure is normal @ 12 psi. Where is the air coming from? P.S. homeowner says that the boiler itself will occasionally make a sort of humming cavitating noise.0 -
Mystery air problem
Victor, what kind of expansion tank did you use? How hot is the boiler water when there is a call for heat, and the boiler is against the high limit.Boiler may be making steam.0 -
did you do
a combustion and gas pressure test? I know these are very important with the Utica UB95M-200. Did you connect the water supply at the point of non pressure change, at the expansion tank? Let us know how it works out.
Thanks, Bob Gagnon
