Steam Heat System in the Summer

I have a single pipe steam heat system. To save $$ over the summer, I want to shut down the entire system. It tends to fire every few hours or so just to maintain water temp in the boiler. Which is totally unnecessary because I'm not using heat. Is it as simple as cutting electricity to the system, draining all water from the system, and closing the water intake valve?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Better yet
have a pro look at it. It probably doesn't need to fire that often, even in the winter.

Summer shut off
Home owner, here.
After one summer of a cold boiler, I was rewarded with several internal & external leaks at start up.
Our boiler has an aquastat that we leave at 100 F just to keep things tight.0 -
summertime heating
i don't see how a 1-pipe steam system would have any reason to fire in summer unless it is making hot water, but you would have mentioned that in the post if that were the case.
possible cause could be a faulty thermostat or other burner control.
this raises the question as to what is best for summer storage on a steam boiler without DHW --overfill ,or leave at normal waterline?--nbc0
