...it would have to be sleeved.

But don't take that as gospel.

Or if not code, any problem with that? Dripleg for Drier?

As work on the kitchen etc progressed this week, it was time for gas line adjustments. Got rid of the old malleable copper gas line to the drier. Is a drip leg required for driers as for boilers?

They drilled a hole through a joist for a half-inch gas line. Seems OK to me--good for support--it's just I've never seen that done. Usually I've seen clevis hangers or U brackets, etc. and the gas lines being run under the joists, not through them.

    Thanks,

    David

    gas

no drip leg except on boiler or water heater. 3/4 " min. branch for appliance. drilling beams.....check construction code. not standard practice but may be okay.
  • Check with...

the local building inspector. He/she has final say.

    iron ?

Iron can go thru joists, walls, floors, etc. Might be hard to get in there though :)

where in ny state are you?

Codes differ greatly by the area you live in.
That would have to be the first question.

For example, no drips and no 1/2" gas lines in NYC.

The person who said check with local inspectors is was right.

    sediment traps

Are required whereever the IFGC or NFPA 54 are in force, regardless if enforced by the AHJs.

    thanks paul; westchester county

I would have hoped the licensed plumber would have piped it 3/4" if it was code, but I'll have to find out. From reading wall posts I gather there's no real problem with 1/2" lines for a 22K drier and total 65K stove as long as it's within the bounds of the gas line capacity chart based on size and length of run.

    Thanks,

    David
