Water testing?

because along comes rAy a cast iron condensing boiler streaming condenstae with ph of 4 or 5 across cast iron. With a 15 year warranty!

Did someone put muratic acid inside that boiler? PH low enough to hole through cast iron in 9 years must be raising h--- with the plumbing and faucets in that home. Probably eating the chrome of the brass fixtures :)

Something sounds fishy?

Local universities often have labs to test water.

Most pool supply companies have electronic testers that will give you a nice printout to submit.

Is it well or city water? Public water providers are required to have water quality data available to users.

    !

Is there an independent water testing lab in the Northeast that I can send a sample of a customer's water to be tested for hardness, contaminants, etc.?

    Thanks in advance, Adam

pH factor in water Weil-McLain Boiler

I also need to test water- had a cast-iron Weil-McLain boiler installed in 1999 with a ten-yr warranty in an apt. building in Somerville MA. It started leaking this year, had to be replaced, showed corrosive holes(Have pictures), rep from Weil-McLain said warranty does not cover because high pH factor caused the holes to form thru the cast-iron.
Had to replace the boiler with costs over $26,000.
Trying to investigate if I have a case against Weil-McLain on the warranty. Need an expert opinion. Testing to date showed that the boiler is isolated from the system water; no indication that the fittings allowed any oxygen into the system, no stop-leaking compounds were ever used. Any advice?

For hardness, iron and pH you can usually get water samples tested free through your wholesaler of water treatment equipment. They give you a little bottle to collect a sample in and send it off to the manufacturer's lab. Results in a few days. For more extensive analysis, like for pesticides, fertilizer runoff, and bacteria you can google "water tests" I recently got a one shot kit for a customer concerned about her water that did everything i needed here: http://air-n-water.stores.yahoo.net/drinwatteski.html
