Now that the weather has gotten warmer, is it necessary to keep the pilot burning for 6 months if my gas fired steamer wont be used?

a logical thought...
would be to turn it of...it is burning gas why not? Well for the sake of the burner and the boiler it would be best to keep it lit. This will keep any condensation from forming on the boiler sections as well as fouling up the piolot assembly during the summer months..we all know that basements in older houses tend to get a bit damp....kpc0
