    earth q

they just had another one at 1014, it was just over 4, the rating for them is odd. it was only a little bit smaller but it effected half the area. check out usgs web page. pretty neat

We felt it here in southeast Iowa. I'm sure it wasn't near as strong as closer areas but you could definately feel it.

    Yep....

Was wondering if a toranado was coming through or our locally famous straight line winds...about 120 mph.

Not in IL, but felt here in SE MO.

I only noticed the 2nd one (about 10:15 a.m. CST)--the first (at about 4:30 a.m.) didn't wake me. Bang, jolt and then a circular motion for a few seconds--thought I had an off-balance industrial washing machine in the attic.

about 40 miles from the 4:30 earthquake epicenter in Evansville IN. It woke me. The earthquake at 10:30 seemed to last a long time. about 10 seconds. It sure is an eerie feeling...

    Earthquake country

Although their has not been a large one in a while. In California its a regular thing to wake in the middle of the night feeling a earthquake. We have a geothermal power plant about 25 miles north that runs steam turbines. I looked at a job down the ridge from one of the plants. I was standing in the customer's kitchen talking with him when one hit. just a 2.5 or so but enough to get your attention. He said it happens almost every day sometimes several times a day. I have always love the electric feel in the air after a earthquake it really generates a lot of static on a dry day.

    My oldest daughter

that sleeps in the basement felt it up here north of Chi-town. She didn't realize what it was till she got up later and heard about it on the news.

I on the other hand slept right through it :(

    It didn't wake me...

but it woke up the dog, who had a supreme fit while asleep against my legs. I would have rather had the earth quake wake me up than to have the dog wake me up by having a fit. Looked at the clock..4:37 ayem. Couldn't figure out why the dog went ape. Wife slept through it all, earthqauke, dog jumping, me telling the dog to be quiet..she never so much as twitched. I live just west of Chicago..Cook County 'burbs.

the first one woke me and i knew it was an earthquake then but thought nothing of it and fell back asleep. both the dogs slept right through it the second one drove them crazy. the first earthquake was a 5.4 the second a 3.2.
i'm in northwest indiana on the IL border.
