ever relocate?

This is a full-scale relocate and regular, full-time gig. The area is North-fork (Hotchkiss, CO) I am pretty excited but the last time I moved a significant distance (SF bay area to SLC) I put all my stuff in the trunk of my car!) I really think I will like it but would like to hear from those who have actually done this...

well, biz has been a bit slow, and after looking at property, have pretty much decided to take a job 8 hours away from here and re-locate to Colorado and take a good job that will pay well for a great guy. I would move out a year ahead of my wife to find land and get working while she sells some property of ours here. Anyone ever done this and how was it to re-locate from a city with a million+ to a town with 2,000? A big change I am sure, but now we can have our goats, sheep, a cow, horses, orchard and such. The wildlife out there is incredible! We both really liked the area and the people were really friendly...just really scares me to think about such a change and living away from my wife for an entire year. Future boss is really flexible about time off. He does a ton of solar and likes the Vissman photo vacuum cell collectors. Really clean jobs.

Moving
I would think that a job only 8 hours away from your current location wouldn't require moving there until you had tested the water, so to speak, and decided that was really what you wanted to do.
I would suggest easing into area by renting until you decide to really relocate on a full time basis. You can be doing your property searches at the same time.
It is a different situation, but I used to make sales calls 6 hours away from home and it was a day trip.

Small town
What part of CO are you moving to? I live in a small town in CO and I moved from Philly of all places. I love the place that I'm in now, I would be careful of the amount of work in a small may be rural setting. Best of luck.0 -
Hey Tim,
You should do whatever Joan(I remember now), and yourself are comfortable with. You both will always have friends here!
BTW-The Cars have some great vids on U/Tube!
