Offense? You feelin' alright? I'm just adding a name. She was all we could get on AM driving through Wyoming on our way to Wetstock. I really like Shawn Hannity...he's a great American, you know. Isn't there a Canadian DJ...Dr. Hoser or something like that?

  • Well,

I was only trying to be polite and sincere. I assume you`ve heard my "anti-Canadian" rhetoric expressed here on the wall,,,,thanks for backing that up, we(Canadians) really feel welcome,, or was that some referral from a gun-towt`n "Redneck"?,,if not, please excuse my geography LOL

I will check out Bruce Williams on the web. Phil Hendrie was great untill he went off the air last year for a new movie career. I guess that went in the toilet, so now he is back but in a little different format.

I agree, Phil Hendrie was funny as all heck back before his movie career. I could'nt wait for people to call his show thinking it was real. I listen to Glenn Beck now at work and some others off and on.

    Howie Car?

Where's the Boston area AM listeners? No Howie Car fans?

WTIC dropped Bruce Williams a few years back, miss his show.

    Sirius

After Satellite Radio I could never ever go back to terrestrial radio. No fades, static, having to find another channel, commercials etc. Never ever. It's worth every cent. Plus Howard!

We recently saw Garrison Keelior in person when he came to SLC and he was great to see. He did almost 2 hours just standing there by himself and had the audience in the palm of his hand the entire time...

    I like.....

to sit around with an analog tuner AM radio after the sun has gone down and listen up and down the dial.

You can hear many stations from all over the country (and the world) as their signals "skip" off the atmosphere.

Great way to waste time. :)

    I still

Spend time SWL'ing (short wave listening), as well as the AM broadcast band. That's how I wound up getting into ham radio 37 years ago. I have a nice collection of old tabletop tube AM and AM/FM SW receivers, especially like playing with the 'ole Zenith Trans-Oceanic.

    Hey Mike

I have a pretty good collection of old tube radios also.

My dad was a Ham and an radio/TV repairman for a time and we grew up with boxes of dusty old tubes in the basement and knew how to operate the tube tester.

I have a few Zenith Transoceanics (tube and transistor) and some other manufacturers versions.

One of my favorites is a Stromberg Carlson AWP-8 that works great and can rival any modern set for SW DXing.

    Turn your radio on

I became an avid SWL'er when I was in my very early teens. Basically did the same thing in the Army as my job, how cool is that. Built a Heathkit SW when I got out and still have it.

Listening to AM after sundown was DXing and a great way to spend a cold winter night. Depending on the weather I could pick up stations 3/4 of the way across the country. It's amazing how far 50KW will carry.
