to this extent indicates loss of the air cushion (expansion tank etc) that one needs in closed system. You need to tell the Wall what the type of boiler is (so can get idea of its volume) type of system (same reason) and the temp you got to. Show them a picture so they can give you good suggestions on how to deal with the tank to check it etc.

pressure in gas boiler rises and relief valve opens
A co-worker of mine has a gas boiler that is about 20 years old. She has noticed that the relief valve has been releasing water.
I had her turn on the heat and watch the pressure gauge. It started off at about 12 psi and then within 5-10 min, it rose to 30, and the relief valve opened.
Would that most likely be due to a problem with the expansion tank?
After the valve opened, she then heard water entering the system.
What would be the most likely problem....I'm thinking expansion tank.....0
