that if you vent the mains, the steam will get to the radiators faster. Make sure the mains are insulated so the steam has a better chance of getting to the finish line. Thanks for reading me.

    One pipe steam

replacement boiler, 'A' dimension & equalizer all sized correctly, there are three supply headers off the main, only one has a main vent at the end. Two others do not, one heats good the other doesn't. The supply that doesn't has one radiator on the first floor and another one on the third floor. In reading Dan's books, it looks like another main vent is in order, true? And if we put it in the basement, will that help the radiator that is on the third floor?

    main vent

for the supply main that feeds a third floor radiator, should it go on the main in the basement, or upstairs; will either place be effective?
Your steam helper book is now in a plastic white binder it is so used and falling apart; you wouldn't believe how much we refer to it. On the side, i pulled out an old article of yours about Johnny Pressuretrol to share with the new techs; we got a chuckle out of your old photo as well as the story. Thank you for the support you've given us!!

    If possible,

put one in both places. Ask youself, "If I were air, could I get out?" The faster the air can get out, the quicker the steam will travel. Thanks.
