Old radiant heating system

We are using the original radiant heating system in our Levitt Home. To date we have not had any problems. However my husband and I are aware that it may eventually spring a leak. Many other home owners in our area have converted to base board heating. Is it better to do this before a leak occurs? Or should we keep this system going until something happens and then make the switch?

    I would keep it going

until it stops working and then I would switch to baseboard. Are you in the Long Island Levittown?

    old radiant

I agree with dan if ain't broke don't fix it .I would then think about replacing entire system including that old boiler that is under the stairway . I grew up in a levitt. home with copper radiant in the slab , you are one of the rare home's left not converted .

My family lives in the northern part of Wantagh. We're in the Levittown School District. It is a great neighborhood.
    Thanks for the reply.

    Levittown

At one time I lived in a Levittown cape cod with radiant heating. It was nice to walk on the warm floor. Even if you do get a leak, it is now much easier to locate the leak and fix it and still retain your radiant system. As you may know, the concrete can eat through the copper lines that are in your slab. Try and keep it. You might want to contact Ron Jr's company as they are experts in working on Levittown radiant systems.

Ron Jr is the human shoehorn of boiler installers

I still love to see the jobs he does. Tim
