While I was in Texas our Lions Club had a fund raiser for the young man (James Ehrlich) who has been in a coma since he was brain injured in a military accident in early December. James is in the Navy but volunteered to go on the ground in Iraq and was training for what would have been a January deployment.

James has never come out of that coma and his young wife and parents were told last week that his organs were shutting down and he has no hope for recovery. The decision has been made to take him off life support and give him comfort drugs until his life ends.

When his parents switched from please pray for James recovery to please pray for a quick peaceful end it is hard to find words to respond.James went to school with our children, to the same church and his parents have been friends for almost twenty years.

There is a web-site called "caringbridge.org" that allows loved ones and patients to write journals about their feelings and emotions. If interested visit this site and search for James Ehrlich. James father has kept a journal for over 95 days expressing the tragic situation they have endured.

Today was the day that the feeding tubes were to be removed. It also is James second anniverary of marriage. His wife Lizzie wanted to spend this day with him along with their son Joseph. After today their wishes are for a quick and peaceful passing.

The family will be ok money wise yet a simple prayer for James Ehrlich and his loved ones would be appreciated. Also "caringbridge.org" should be applauded for the way they offer a format for caring and compassion.

Thank you!

    caring bridge

is a wonderful site for the journaling of both recovery and decline. I have seen it used many times. My thoughts are with the whole family.
