Banging and SUPER hot one pipe steam heater

Hi. I have a steam heater in my bedroom and in my living room of my one bed. apt. The heater in my living room is quiet and works quite efficiently. However, the one in my bedroom is constantly in a state of flux and bangs super loud and hisses to the point of waking me up, strategically and timely of course. I am literally losing sleep over this thing. I talked to my landlords and they replaced the steam release nobs for ones that have no holes in them at all. I cannot get my heater to stop banging and hissing. What do I do?
Thanks

a couple of things..
is it 1 or 2 pipe steam? Make sure the valve is all the way open & make sure it has pitch back to the valve(if 1 pipe)0
