staple guns
We use to use a modified roof staple gun and shot down the pex onto wire mesh before a mud job was done. As long as you set it up right there are no problems.
Two problem you can have is missing and shooting the pex or to high a pressure and cutting the pex.
Now we use track systems to press the pex down then pour. Lot faster. Plus I wonder long term if the epex can move enough in the mud to rub against the staples and mesh to cause a problem.

staple gun
I have a Duofast 1" crown stapler that I had a welder attach a head to. It is similar to an arrow staple gun used for thermostat wire but much larger. I had the gun so this was an easy solution. I think there are guns made for this, one supply house I deal with loans theirs out.

staple guns?
Have a couple modified senco guns, 1" crown roof staples, which have worked fine for years.
Bought a spot-nails one modified by I believe Wirsbo, about 8-10 years ago and found it jams up more than the others. Has a ling handle so you can don't have to bend over as much, but I believe we occasionally miss becasue of the handle, and hit a tube. THe guys don't like this gun either.
A couple years ago I bought a bostich, and had a local machine shop build a head for it. I like it better than the others, but some of the guys prefer the old senco.
Seems they have outlasted the rest of them.
All the above are usually used for stapling tube on subfloor, ready for gypcrete.
For concrete we are either stapling tube to foam board, (other staple gun), or wiring to mesh.
