figure only one shower. The problem lies in the sizing. That small of an apartment will probably need a small load and most of the combi boilers will be too large.

Walll hung, hot water, combo- boiler options/suggestions?

I'm looking to purchase and install about 30 hot water boilers in an apartment bldg. A total renovation. I need new baseboard or wall-panel heating also. I have a lead on a Quitside brand, but not sure since they don't have a ASME stamp? Other suggestions are the Maxi, Triangle Tube, Trinity, etc. Price, dependability, and performance are all very important. Would anyone care to shed some wisdom/experience my way to help me make a good decision? The apartments are from 500 to 900 sq ft. I prefer a combo heating/domestic hot water unit to save space. Space saving, wall hung, PVC venting are important in this decision. I'd love to do infloor but I think the $ would be to great. Thank You

    stay away...

from the quietside...not tried and true yet. BAXI, and the Trinity are good and the triangle tube is new but nas a good reputation. Be careful about you domestic use..these combo units are fine but the HW production can be low...2 showers at once might be a challange.

    Triangle tube boiler is great

The only new part of the combo unit is putting a heat x in it. Boiler itself is bullet proof at least for the last 3 yrs for us. Priced pretty well and simple. Tim

What would be the downside to oversizing?

The smallest quietside only modulates down to 45K Btu. Guessing that you are around 10K for the 500 square foot to 20K Btu for the 900 square foot, the units will probably short cycle.

How are the units heated, and domestic water, currently?

    Not sure.........

it's a total gut job of a 1920's bldg. It's a blank slate right now. Kind of a design as we go.

    Combi

Baxi boilers have a minimum output of 35,000 BTU's, or roughly 60 feet of baseboard. The good thing about this is you can upsize your baseboard requirements, add an outdoor sensor, and run much lower water temps for heating. Using a condensing boiler to save a bunch of fuel. Good marketing strategy for renting your apartmnents. Fuel Efficient...
