I wouldent worry what the guage says unless the OB is fireing constantly because the wood boiler will not keep up
in that case make shure your circ. pump is big enuff.

I have a wood boiler tied into my oil fired boiler. I have to run the wood boiler temp between 200 to 220f to keep the temp in the oil boiler 180f. Does any body know why I have such a difference in temps? The two boiler are about ten feet apart. I would think that the temp would be the same. The wood boiler is a Timbereze which I can find no info on.
    Thanks Dale

Why are you trying to keep the oil boiler at 180 degrees?

    Are you

tied directly to the wood boiler or using a heat exchanger?

    Un-fired Boiler

You should not be sending the heated water from your wood boiler through the un-fired oil boiler. The wood boiler has to heat all of the mass of the oil boiler which then looses that heat up the chimney. It ends up being a big heat sink and a big heat loss.

    Why?

Why would you trust that gauge? One of them may not be telling the truth. Get a second opinion (another thermometer)

220°F is hotter than I would like to see it, mighty close to lift off... (relief valve)
