Noise level of gas power burners

I have never noticed residential gas guns to be much noisier than oil. I don't know the Carlin so can't comment on it. The Riello's I have seen were not any noisier though. Don't much like one of the gas primary controls on Riello's Gas 1 burner. Just a note. Tim

  • Just how noisy are gas power burners?

I sugested the Carlin gas burner in a Smith G8 boiler for a new heating system in my home. My plumber indicated that gas power burners "are noisy" and he's had customers complain about it after oil burner-to-gas conversions. Our boiler is situated directly below the living room in a dedicated space. When the oil burner runs there's a low level rumble that's no problem. Plumber tells me gas guns produce a higher pitched sound that is "loud, annoying, much more intrusive than an oil burner." He suggested that either a gas gun in the existing boiler or a gun into a new boiler would produce noise "you'll be sorry to live with." He adds that standard atmospheric burner fired steam boilers are quiet, and he gets no complaints about the Utica brand steam boilers he prefers to install. Any comments?
  • Get the Carlin

EZ GAS Burner spec'ed for the Smith 8. You won't be disappointed. Confirm that your plumber has instruments to adjust the burner properly.

We installed 2 EZs last week. The guys were surprised at how quiet the burners ran.

Most of our work is on commercial burners. In that application, gas is almost always noisier than oil.

    I agree

the EZ-Gas in that boiler is no louder than a flame-retention oil burner. We have several in service and our customers like them. Plus, the EZ-Gas for this boiler is offered as a factory option, so there is no guesswork. And since the G-8's thermal efficiency is 6% better than those Utica PEG steamers, you can call it "the sound of high efficiency".
