Its tax time again and around this time I often wonder, just
how good is my accountant.

I listen to guys in my business that make twice the money I do and they always pay less taxes then I do.

I also often hear them speak of terms that my accountant
never discusses or has never mention to me.

Example...a distribution check.

How does one qualifly a accountant?

What do you look for in a accountant?

I keep hearing you need to find you a real accoutant.

So what is a real accountant?

I'll second the recommendation to check out Ellen.

In fact, I recently finished a program of hers called "The Challenge". And it does challenge you. I highly recommend it.

    An accountants job

is to organize your paperwork, input data, and provide financial reports. Often they need guidence from you as to how you want that to happen.

Really, a CPA would be worth the hire, at least once a year, to advise and possibly prepare your tax return. They are usually more up to speed on IRS and State requirements and deduction legalities. The changes the IRS implements most years fills many pages. Unless you are in that business much will slip by you.

Licensed CPAs generally co-sign the tax returns to assure it is done properly. Most will involve you in tax consequences, good and bad.

Only one person has a true vested interest in your financial health. The more you learn about it the happier, and wealthier you may become.
