corroding seal on burnham v-7 oil boiler

I have a Burnahm V-7 series oil fired boiler that was installed in 2002 and am experiencing a problem with the seals / gaskets between the cast iron sections corroding and causing the boiler to leak (this is the second unit that this has happened to - the first one was installed in 1998). It looks like some type of mineral build up that is taking place and some of the metal is flaking - I have a Hague 60 series water conditioning /softner 3 unit piece installed for the well water. Is this a common problem / occurence with these Burnham boilers? Any suggestions on what may be causing this problem and what steps could be taken to preclude this from happening in the future?

There was some......................
problems with the nipples between the sections. Burnham doesn't use any gaskets or seals between the sections only CI nipples. I would have your service company check it, might need to change to a V-8 (before warranty ends), V-7 are no longer made.0 -
softened water...
is not good to fill the system w/ especially steam. Also having bags of salt near the boiler is not good at all.0
