    New Gig

All things happen for a reason they say, and I am living proof of that. Those who don't think the economic slowdown is real should give me a call. As the last one hired for sales at United P&H and with the downturn I was the likely choice for layoff. The owner felt bad but it was simply a business decision. Quite frankly I was bored with the inactivity and wholesaling is truly not my thing. I am used to work in front of me and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. That simply was not the case at United with the position I took on.

So after many very interesting discussions with my wife about becoming a house husband, I have gone full cicle back to a plumbing dept. manager for a medium sized mechanical contractor.A little too early to tell but the faster pace and larger type work has me very excited about this decision.

Just started yesterday but have had some power plant work, Naval station work and several other projects put in front of me. Brain is once again being stimulated instead of in idle. God surely does work in mysterious ways.

United is a vendor of this firm and I will use contacts there for our PVF and other mechanical material needs.

    Good for you

I know exactly what you are talking about. Went through the same thing.

I started in this business back in '81. Worked in oil service for 14 years. Then became a project sales guy for a mechanical contractor, then their GM for 4 rough years. Then an outside sales position for a wholesaler, definitely not my cup of tea and the numbers proved it.

Now, full circle, I'm back in oil as the field supervisor of a great company. I love them, they love me, can't see ever leaving here.

Of course, my first choice would have been trophy husband:-)

    Don't be fooled folks !

I saw that picture of Paul in his fancy European sports car a couple weeks back....He's been a trophy Husband for quite a while now, and I'm guessing he'll continue to do so.

Oil industry my fanny! (easy prey!) Chris

Please note that the following may be true:

That I have been seen in a vehicle that may be considered fancy by some of the lessers out there(that means you).

That I have been considered, at times, to be a husband, though my wife has had reason to doubt that at times.

That there are many of the opposite sex that, I believe, consider me to be a trophy.

But it must be stressed to any and all to whom these presents come greeting, that I have no interest in your fanny!

    :-)
