Recent HH spam attack, question for invision

Yes it seems like the people that are doing this must have some serious "ISSUES" (Oder einen Kleinen) (Small man syndrome)

I am wondering just what these 'bots' are doing? many do not have a link or benefit even. Will receiving 15+ email notifications from these things affect my computer so long as I do not use the links? How do they get threads from months ago? Is there anything we can do to help?

Another sad result of this

Not only are the posts all full of rubbish and mailboxes brimming with trash notifications; but the corrupted threads will be destroyed, thus obliterating the original, often valuable postings.

It is beyond my understanding why anyone wastes time generating this garbage.

Dan should be able to restore the old posts...but he lose today's posted.

Unfortunately for Dan, he will need to spend more money to install the technology with the confirmation text that is in curved graphic form that is more impervious to this.

Yes, no doubt he could reset to an earlier date or someone could hand edit the posts; but imagine the expense - in addition to the cost of blocking the current attack and upping the security here.

I do have words to describe the people responsible for this attack, but courtesy prevents use of such language.
