air scoop right next to pump?

Is this a regular cast iron air scoop you are asking about ? If so the minimum you would want to locate that would be 18". This is so that any air entarpped can become laminar and float to the top of the pipe allowing the ai scoop to do it's job. Now if it is a microbubble remover like a spirovent or a discall air seperator that is less crucial because theyhave a fine screen in them that takes air from water wherever it is in the pipe. Hope that helps...

can an air scoop
be too close to a pump inlet?
a convenient location is right next to the inlet( 3-4 inches) 3/4 inch piping.0 -
Bob is correct,
I think the 18" rule applies to the inlet side of an "orifice or scoop" type air eliminator, the pump can go right after that.
Besides I seldom have 36+ inches of room.0 -
Thanks
i must have had a brain block, I should have gone to taco web site, its a cast iron air separator.
