Mega-Steam DHW

It's pretty common for steam coils to be only partially submerged when the boiler is filled to the normal water line or less . Fully submerging the coil in the non-heating months should take care of the dropoff . What is the aquastat set at ?

Mega-Steam DHW
Anyone had any issues with the new Burnham Mega-Steam with tankless coil? A customer complained about poor hot water- we found that it was fine in the winter, but with the heat running less in the spring they had a major drop-off in performance of DHW coil (in upstate NY). We found that the coil is actually installed 1/2 above the water line- the manual actually says you can raise the boiler water level in the summertime to increase DHW performance. Am I missing something, or did Burnham not think this one through?0 -
It is common
on many steam Boilers to have to add water in the summer to keep up the HW demand0 -
Yes, the output of the coil in the megasteam
is not meant for more than very basic hot water demand....two older folks or people who don't have a high demand...that is what I have found. We have used an indirect with nice brass wye strainer and piped out of the nice lower tappings. Mad Dog
