All the copper is green in a ceramic studio I recently worked in. EVERY INCH in the basement is bright(almost neon) green. When you touch it a white powder comes off on your fingers. All the kilns are located in the boiler room (I guess theres about 10 or so)which fire daily according to the owner. I grilled the owner about what is on the ceramics before they get "baked" and he said its just paint and sometimes the glazing used. Pinholing in the copper has also been an issue but not recently. Some of the fittings are crusty white. Its NOT just in the kiln room. The whole basement is affected. Is this a result of some sort of reaction when the kilns are being fired? This place has been a studio for over 40 years according to the current owner. Hes been there for 12 years and said that the copper has been green since he's owned the building. Any ideas as to whats going on there? Thanks in advance.
