I've used it to stage two packaged CGa model boilers. It is a simple little control that just closes a dry set of contacts when 1-boiler can't handle the load. For a on-off multi-boiler control its just fine.
I definitely wouldn't use it for a mod-con. (If you have to use it for a mod/con, program the time between stages to maximum, to allow the mod/con to do its thing.)

and 2 mods was how we did it and we wondered if it was worth it. but i don't remember how we timed the stages and that may be the answer0
