    ANSI Z21.8

Has anyone ever tried to locate a copy of ANSI Z21.8 Installation of Domestic Gas Conversion Burners? Natural Gas is new up here in Maine and according to State Code Enforcement, all Oil to Gas conversions must adhere to this code book. So far, I can download the standard for the low, low price of $460.00. Seems a little pricey for a code book to me.

Give John Kunz a call(if you haven't thought of that aleady). I'm sure he's been through the wars by now. Just a thought. These Code/Standards (ASHRAE) publications never come "inexpensive".

p.s. After thought; some boilers are not rated or tested/certified for gas burners ( 8 Series was only just approved). The Manufacturer might have some info.

    Just this weekend....

I attended the PHCC trade show and code seminar in Marlboro Ma., and found myself pulled right to the Carlin/CCT booth that was sporting many conversion burners.

My thought was...I better get all the information I can on these things, because the way the oil prices are going right now....I'll bet I'm going to be asked this question more often in the next few months.

I will be checking the Ma. codes before doing any, but am glad to see that there is a national code that has to be looked at first.

Thanks for the heads up. Chris

is really not the answer to installation requirements for POWER conversion burners. My manual on Gas Conversion Burners covers everything you need to know. I doubt very much that Mass has anything at all on conversion burners. Let me know if you find anything from them.

    Tim,

I got that book out on Saturday night and started brushing up. With the price of fuel staying as high as it has been, I'm betting we'll all be getting the questions real soon.

I'm glad I sat in on that class. Thanks. Chris
