James Taylor

...thinkin' about women and glasses of beer.

One of the original mellow/soft-rock singer-songwriters. Sang some beauties -- Carolina In My Mind is a favorite. And he spent time in marital bliss with Carly Simon -- which must have been a treat, judging from her mid/late 70's album covers!

    Happy Birthday

James Taylor hits the big 60 today. I think I read that he is starting up a tour now too.

I always loved his music, though I think it would be hard to find anyone who didn't. His music was so huge in the early 70's that everyone in the music industry wanted to capture that sound in their own projects. This is one of the reasons that his bass player, Lee Sklar, became instantly in demand. Everyone wanted that "James Taylor" sound.

I think Sweet Baby James is my favorite. I believe he wrote it as a lullaby for his nephew James.

    Dad loves his work

is one of my favorite albums. My girls and I read books every night before bed. Then....the bedtime song comes next and it is "That Lonesome Road". The girls are really good and it warms your heart to hear a 3-yr old and 7-yr old singing James Taylor.

    Wetstock Denver Music list?.....

    Regards,

    Love to hear it Paul!

"My girls and I read books every night before bed." Now THAT's some work to be really proud of!

My boys and I always did too. Now at 9 and 11 they are varacious (sp) readers on their own and still enjoy Mom or Dad reading to them.

I think some nice background music

would be appropriate. How about some CCR?

Does anyone remember the "M*A*S*H episode where Radar is the DJ? One of my all time favorite episodes. "As I put another fang in the tone-arm cobra". Cracks me up every time I hear it.

Robert Palmer "Simply Irrestistable" one of the best videos ever.

I just bought a JT album

Live at Pittsfield Mass. I listen to it while working out at the gym on my Bose noise canceling headset. You can hear the squeak of the strings. It starts with "Something in the Way she Moves." (Classic). Also has Copperline, Steam Roller and I was a Mean Old Man. :) My wife and I had Shower the People as the opening song of our wedding reception. He also spent time with Joni Mitchel and played the Banjo on Neil Young's song "Old Man." I once road the elevator with his Bass player Sklar at a hotel the band was staying in, and I was working on the A/C. He didnt look very comfortable so I said nothing. :) WW

I met Lee Sklar at Bass Player Live last year. He's actually very approachable and very personable. Just like talking to anybody else.

    Way cool

I was probably mis-reading things. BTW, did you know that James Taylor's first record contract was when he was 19. He was signed by the Beatles at Apple Records. The boy had chops. WW
