Howdy Wallies!

Left Wisconsin yesterday early am (temp 7*) after 857 miles and 14 hours later I spent the night in Oklahoma City (high today about 68*)

About to head out for the last leg of about 425 miles. Yesterday was long but not much traffic. Lots of semis especially Wal-Mart units.Speed limit was 70 in Missouri and 75 here in Oklahoma. Sounds great until its dark and you get along side a three trailer hitched semi that is going the same 75 miles per with trailers swaying about 2 feet each.

People are friendly and thus far all is good. Will be doing all I can to not only keep you guys informed but ask advice. I think this may be a great opportunity to create one of Texas's first LEED bed and breakfasts.

While trying to educate myself about this "Green Movement" I still think it is in it's infancy and just starting to show the signs of growing pains.

Take care,

Rawhide Rich (literally 1360 miles leaves saddle sores)

    Gone With the Wind

Made it to my destination and this place could be the set for "Gone With The Wind" The rooms are about 11ft high with transomes above each door. Very difficult to heat when there is cold weather. A fireplace in all living areas and bedrooms. As many as three 3x8 ft windows in each bedroom.

Just for kicks there is a 35 x 25 x 24 ft high great room. Have not done any kind of heat loss yet but this place is truly not a go green candidate relative to heating and cooling.

Plumbing is not going to be a problem owner wants to add four whirpools and maybe add an ADA bathroom in the future. Biggest concern is requirement for a sprinkler system which she will be getting bids for.

Stopped by Austin for a while to avoid rush hour, it is a very pretty city. Things are greening up here and some apple trees are blossoming. It rained and was about 62* @ 7:00pm.

There is a hotel under construction near the Chilis I ate at so I took a look at the plumbing system. pvc waste and vent with that god awful purple primer. pex water piping and some very unique venting methods.

Workmanship at this new motel site was very shabby. Texas is huge over 900 miles north to south and 780 miles east to west.Seems to be a lot of construction going on.
