Taking your complaint to YouTube

you can not legislate against mornonisms.

What scares me more than anything is the fact that this guy is exposing himself and his family to the potential of CO poisoning, and he's mad at the world.

Actually, that is probably the case. This guys suffering the effects of long term low level exposure. It is thought that possibly Edgar Allen Poe was suffering from exposure to CO poisoning. Long term, low level, from coal. He had some lung issues as well.

Maybe this guy is not a moron after all... He's sick.

Education is the key. The manufacturer didn't owe him anything. They don't warrant against freezing. No one does.

Some peoples kids...

I have an ex customer who wen tweird on me after CO poisonig from a system I had installed. It was installed to code and the manufacturers recommendations, blah blah adnasium.

He took the front metal cover off of the boiler and stomped it into a small, tight ball of metal.

I told him I was glad it wasn't ME that he had done that to, and he said "It was...."

I fired him on the spot and have not heard from him since.

Hope he made it through.

    Video Rant

Here's a gentleman who didn't get the tech support he felt he was entitled to and decided to take his frustrations out on YouTube. Sounds to me like he may not have possessed the requisite skill set to make the install and now expects the mfg to provide the solution.

Ahh, the power of the Internet

Sadly, you can no longer run and hide, even if you are faultless.

    Tankless

Wow! They told him why it froze.... the dummy can't figger it out. Needs make-up air! Should be a way to reply on U-tube, to show him the way.... :)

Thats the thing that haunts the manufacturers who sell to the unlicensed. Way to many people have poor opinions of products not knowing that the failure is a result of a poor install. Every time I see a product I regularly sell and install for sale online or in a hardware store it just makes me sick.

Those are the cheap units at Home Depot.
Hey wait, I've seen them there

Under fired, atmospheric, hydraulic gas valve, bad install = complaint against manufacturer.

I agree it is junk but the complaint should be that that they still make it and offer it for sale.

Anyone that supports Bosch and their equipment lines perpetuates this problem.
  • Bosch and their equipment line...

Do you have any idea who owns Buderus? It ain't the Japanese, yet....

Bosch runs deep. Don't they own GE or some thing? :-)

    They do run deep.

    not to change the subject,,,,

one of the side effects of CO poisoning from what i am aware of is the human body fights against the human mind to flee from the offending atmosphere...

in the fight or flight response the fight seems to win out...leaving the human body sick or dead from the conundrum...

anger is just a noticeable side effect from it..
  • he doesn't say

anything about a back-draft damper, but he does say this is the third time it froze & split!?! And, he also notes he has a negative air-pressure problem. Love those who hate you? That'd be wasted love in his case. Do it once, do it right - to quote TACO.

You can't help those who won't help themselves!

Edgar Allan Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher and The Tell-Tale Heart both deal with the effects of chronic CO poisoning caused by indoor coal-gas lighting!

    I've been conversing

with this guy via the comments section on YouTube suggesting that he fix the negative pressure problem and trying to impress upon him the seriousness of the situation. He won't listen to reason and erases my posts right after he responds. So sad.

    Don't you understand?

It's not his fault as the owner/installer, it's the fault of Bosch, the manufacturer.

He doesn't want to hear from people that know what they're talking about.
  • actually a u-tube?!

no, it wasn't missed. and i'm jealous of you coming up with it first
  • diluting the effectiveness

of public complaints in forums or web sites is rapidly reducing the effectiveness and credibility of those who have legit complaints.

I've witnessed numerous occasions where mfgrs, like Bosch, give away free components to those who ignored installation instructions and, as a result, ruined perfectly good products. Not because their product failed in the field, but because the field of installers failed the product. The mfgrs feel that giving away product is better than experiencing the wrath of consumer/installers or installers. But, at some point a line-in-the-sand gets drawn & the gravy-train makes its last stop to eject the stragglers.

Most of the contractors who participate here would have examined the installation and discovered the fault lies not with Bosch, but resides with a failure to follow instructions (if there's no back-draft damper) and the negative air-pressure. A stubborn HO/installer who reacts as has this guy isolates themselves from quality assistance and ensures continued self-inflicted product damage.
