suggestions for boilers

I live in a 2100SF house that I'm installing HWBB with continous loop and a couple monoTs for a couple heaters with TRV's. Had a couple guys come to figure out what I need for a boiler. One Guy looked around and said my heat loss was 70,000 and the other guy looked around and said 73,000. I done a slant/fin heat loss and got just over 60,000. One suggested a Trinity mod/con. And the other suggested a conventional boiler. I'm more comfortable with a conventional boiler as I operate and maintain the steam boiler at my church and attended training for steam locomotive frieman/engineer. Basically my guestions are
about mod/con boilers. (1) What are their longevity (2) How reliable are they, and are they easy to maintain and repair Thanks

    Hello Rich?

As to you Q:,... I can only type so fast and it would take me forever to answer. Q: 1-2-, and 3 : Depends on proper design, 2) New technology has it's draw back's but that's where it reffers bback to Q: #1, and finally 3) Mostly state of the art technology,...with more controls, but for the most part, I like them.

Just a sugestion: Why dont you eliminate you mono-flo and do some piping and incorporate an injetion circuit for what ever you have on that mono,...loop? You can mak it it's own Zone..

    HWBB Sizing

Did the Trinity bid mention what temperature they were going to use to size the baseboard? That would most likely be the biggest factor affecting your future savings. If not sized adequately, you might not end up with enough efficiency gains to cover that big extra pump you'll need on the Trinity. The HWBB has to be sized for a lower temp if you want the best return on a gasmodcon.
