I would recommend a good inhibitor included in your water.I've attached some fluid with metal charts to give you an idea of corrosion rates. Give me a call if you need help picking an additive. 800-678-6625, Ext. 108

I have a just commissioned coal boiler, which will also have a back-up oil boiler as a second stage, both of which are fabricated steel construction. The coal boiler manufacturer shipped with the boiler a couple of bottles of re-branded boiler treatment. I contacted them, and asked the why & what-for of the additive, and all they could say was they like how this "stuff" coats the insides of the boiler. I've personally never been a proponent of additives in water in a heat transfer situation, thinking that plain H2O (of neutral PH) is just fine after the disolved O2 has been used up. In looking at the supplied treatment I believe it is Squick (brown). In researching Squick, I find it is a flocculant, and the flocs then settle, and it's mostly used in steam applications. Is this correct? I also hear if the flocs are not drained, they form a barrier to heat transfer. I'm NOT voiding my warranty by not using the supplied treatment, but am looking for advise on whether or not I should be using some form of boiler treatment product in these fabricated steel boilers. If so, and recommendations of good products?
As always, thanks for the assistance.0
