I am looking to heat a finished attic. I have one pipe steam currently in my house. I am open to using other sources of heat for the attic Its approx 400 square feet.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I have steam in my attic
If you can connect a pipe to make it to the attic I don't see a problem. Look for a good spot above existing lines. There are many drawings that you could look at on this site that would show you the possibilities. Finding those drawings is another thing. Make sure your boiler would be able to carry the load of the added metal. My guess is you are looking at alternatives to avoid the plumbing which I have no answer for.0 -
can
2 3/4" pipes be snaked down to the boiler? If so, you could put HWBB in the attic on it's own zone. Cutting up the attic subfloor to route BB loop might have to be done. Then in the basement, you could possibly tap off the steam boiler with a heat exchanger set up to run the new zone. You might be able to run a loop w/o a HX (see condensate hot water heating) but the HX method is a better way to go considering the height of the zone vs. the basement.
See "hot tech topics" under condensate hot water heating.0
