How many times do I have to replace the circuit board on my EDP boiler? Already done it once, now it needs it again. Looks like time to throw it away and buy a better product!!

Laars has an exellent service department, and I am sure will address your issue(s). No need to bash a mfg that checks the Wall regularly and really does go the extra mile for their customers. Bad things happen to many mfgs.

    LAARS EDP CALL LAARS

    Hi J-Bud,

Tell me exactly what is happening with the boiler and why you think the board is bad. Just so you know, the boards are not like a filter and just "go bad" from use, and then have to be replaced every so many years.

Has the unit been running fine and now your getting error codes. If your getting an error code(F*), that doesnt mean the board is bad. It could be a sensor issue or a flow switch, or maybe the ignitor is going bad. The F-code number will tell you what is wrong. These are all parts that should be checked during the yearly service cleaning.

Are you getting LO on the display. LO means Lockout. There are many causes for lockouts. The most common causes are: poor combustion, poor flame sensor signal, inadequate gas supply pressure(or a propane blend due to supply and demand issues), ignitor failure, blocked or contaminated air source(we have had lots of snow this year), or safety limit trip.

If you get LO on boiler control, you need to check the ignition control to see if it is flashing three times, for ignition control lockout. If it is, then that is a combustion lockout. Remember, the error codes are there for your protection, not to irritate you. They are the same as the "check engine" codes in your car. They warn you of a potential part failure or safety concern.

Call us at 603-335-6300 on Monday morning. Let us know exactly what symptoms your product is having so we can help you fix the cause of the issue.

Have you done a combustion test? If you did, what are you getting for a CO2 reading. Natural gas should be between 9.0 and 9.6. Propane should be 9.7 to 10.1....

If I have offended anyone I apologize. For something that is only used 3 months out of the year it has given me far more than its share of grief. After working out away from home all week and expecting to be able to work on a warm floor only to find that it has locked out sometime during the middle of the week (just a guess by the temp). Getting a hold of a tec on Sat. to get parts and then having him tell me "well you just as well plan on getting another board" did not make my weekend. Bill I will try to call the number on Monday. Thanks

Hey, no offense...I just hate to see good folks get blamed first for issues that are either out of their control or caused by poor installation. Without seeing your install or hearing what your fault code is, it is hard to say what is wrong, but either way you deserve to have this fixed, and Laars will take care of you to the best of their ability...you are in good hands with them.

    been away this week

Bill, I did not have the ability to call you--I called a local HVAC pro on Sunday (I have his unlisted number) he usually will NOT work on anything he did not sell/install (he sells/installs Munksin). But since we go way back he checked it out. I was in need of a ignitor-flame rod. So much for the "TEC" who deals in TDL who told me to "buy a new board". I have been assured when I get home this weekend I will have a warm floor in my shop! :)
    Thanks to all!
