Condensing Boilers

There is an issue with an incorrectly sized clamp and/or hose on a certain run of units. HTP can provide a serial number range if you need it. The clamp cuts through the hose which then seperates from the boiler. This creates a breech in the heat exchanger on the positive pressure side of things which then dumps Co into the structure. I have spent over a week of labor going back and checking all of the units I have installed and checking for properly installed and functional Co detectors to cover my backside. I am still uneasy about leaving these units installed but can't afford to remove them all at my own expense.

Rear Flue Mod Con
I have a situation where I have to rip out a few munchkins and am wondering if there are any other rear flue condensing boilers out there. Any help is appreciated.

The Knights do both flue and intake up to the 210. Above that rear vent and side intake. I am having good luck with mine.

Munchkins?
How old are they?
I need a Munch or two to play with.
A T50 up to a 199 would be good.
If they/it are/is available, where are you?
Thanks,

Why the rippout?
Just curious. Are there ongoing problems you can share? Are customers dissatisfied? Problem with parts? etc..No affiliation, I just don't want to install something that is going to become a problem.0 -

Thanks for the reply, I will look into the knight. I reply to all of your questions, here goes.
I have had a situation where the condenssate drain has failed on two 399's in the same house and the owner will most likely try to take me and HTP to the cleaners over Co issues. In the mean time he is insisting that I install a new boiler, he is also insuisting that I replace 3 other 399's on a different project that he owns. If I have to rip them out they will be sent back to HTP or will be held until the legal dust settles. To date I have had 4 drain failures on various models, three of these resulted in Co detector activations. Pretty nerve racking stuff.

no doubt
I have heard that they have condensate trap problems. I hadn't thought about the C.0. issue. Thats a big deal. I stopped using them because i liked the controls for the Lochinvar Knight and it just looks more respectable. The things I had heard about the condensate traps did not help. I have a few munchies installed that makes me nervous. Good luck I hope that makes you customer very happy and they relax for you. Nothing like a customer breathing down your neck to make the hair stand up and keep you up at night.0 -
trap issues
What exactly happens to the trap? Had not heard this before. Bryan0 -
Sorry for your trouble Tim

Hey Mad Dog
How are you Bud?
Yeah, it really sucks. You break your back 60-70 hours a week to try to do better for your family and the next thing you know your looking at loosing everything over a 25 cent clamp that was overlooked by some engineer somewhere. At the end of the day I am going to have to spend my time and money to correct these situations, I can't sleep at night thinking of all of these potential time bombs sitting out there and could not live with myself if some was injured or killed by one of these things. It's a tough spot to be in.
