Oil Burner/ Nozzle type question

the "OEM Spec Guide" from the burner manufacturer. This lists all the setup specs for burners they have supplied to boiler manufacturers. Beckett and Carlin have pretty extensive ones, Wayne only had some older specs when I called them, and I've never seen this type of guide from Riello.

    Oil burner/ nozzle type question?

Does anyone know of a reference guide for nozzle types for any particular furnace or boiler? Some manufacturers list the nozzle type and size on the data plate. Sometimes its not listed anywhere and the owners manual is missing. The guy before you may have installed whatever he had on the truck. I have come across several this season that had the wrong type installed even when the correct size and type is listed. It can be difficult to get answers from the manufacturers at a moments notice. I'm sure I'm not the only person who could use this information.

Craig Butler is your Beckett rep and Bruce Graham is your Carlin rep. Both top-notch guys. I have their numbers at the office, if you like I'll e-mail them to you when I dig them up.

    Congratulations

It is good to hear of someone who is conscientious enough to want to install the correct nozzle. Unfortunately, there are many out there who believe that close enough is good enough. You should also know that there are some oil fired units that require a specific manufacturer's nozzle. Sometimes it is because there is only one manufacturer of a particular nozzle and in other cases the manufacturer believes the quality is higher in a particular brand. You might want to create a computer program where you list the equipment that each customer has on hand. If you do not know the exact nozzle for an application you could look up the manual on line and enter it in your program. With this information you can somewhat tailor your nozzle inventory.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. We do track our existing customers, that way we know what nozzle, fuel filter and even air filters they use. Makes it much easier for annual tune ups. We need the info for new custmers. It is unreal how many burners don't have the correct nozzles in them. Hollow when they should be solid and vise versa. Too small or sometimes too big. Crazy.

Bruce's # is on the way. I'd post it here, but want to ask if it's OK with him first.

Thanks Alan for coming up with Craig's info so quickly- but there's only one "t" in "Butler" ;-)
