I would also check the venting outside to be sure the air intake isn't pulling back exahust because a tree or bush is too close or maybe the vent was improperly installed. This can cause problems with the swirl plate. I also can't agree more about the combustion analyzer- It's a must.

munchkin vibrating during and after prepurge and post purge

I bought this boiler two years ago. It runs on propane. I had the gas company out to check on it. He didn't quite know why it does this he checked the gas pressure to start it was 10inches, he jacked it up to 11 1/2 inches. This seemed to stop some of the vibration. Also before he did anything to the pressure you could hear the flame flutter during the the perpurge. You could smell the unburnt fuel. After it goes through the first stage the burner burns great. and when it shuts down it vebrates. I am having another serviceman come out, when he get over his cold. My gas company called the manufacture and they said that there must be a little debree in the venturie or the burner, this was checked and nothing was there. The trouble with being out of the heating business is I can't get any trouble shooting literature. Is there any info that I can tell this new sevice man in case he gets stumped. ON prepurge it goes the fan speed goes up to 269 it drops down to 122 and starts to vebrate and flutter then it will reach 144 and the flutter goes away and burns great. all blue flame. the draft was 18in. Thank you for you help

    Find someone....

With a combustion analyzer, and have them call HTP with the specifics. They will be able to tell them what they should be looking for at all firing ranges as far as the CO and CO2 numbers go...

Without testing equipment, they are shooting blind! Please take my advice on this. Chris

Couldn't agree more. A complete combustion test has to be performed to double check the problem you are having.

    Swirl Plate

Have them check the swirl plate. They have a habit of falling apart and when they do they make the unit rumble but usually only at certain firing rates.
