Inexpensive Humidifier

today from my daughter who's living up in Chicago. (brrrrr!) She was complaining of having a cold. I asked her if she had a humidifier or vaporizer to add some moist air to her apartment to help her breath. She replied no. She's living on a shoestring and can't just run out and buy things at this stage of her life after college, so I came up with an idea. Her basement level apartment has steam radiators mounted up on the ceiling, and her apartment's always hot. I told he to soak a towel and throw it up on top of each of the radiators and she'd have some humidity in no time. It pays to have a Dad in the HVAC trade. :) WW

In germany back in the 70ties they sold something that would fit on the Rad's Between the fins all you do is to fill it with water. and that worked just fine.she can also use a long pan and fill it ,let the towel hang in the pan and it will wicker up (that will last longer)
  • way back when,

my mom and others would put trays of water on the radiators and just top them up when needed
