Low Boiler Temp

Just wondering about my internal boiler temperture on my Dunkirk boiler, runs at about 170 although the aqua stat is set at 220, my problem is the time it takes to raise the temperture in the house as I use a programeable thermostat. Is there any way to check the aqua stat controls before replacing?
