Islandwood Project-PGP

We're fixing a number of hydronic screwups at the Islandwood environmental center, located on Bainbridge Isl, a 35 min ferry ride from Seattle. The pics show the install of (2) sets of lines to supply (2) air handler HW coils. The coils were hooked up to the radiant zone distribution, instead of their own high temp circuit....Duhhh! The AHU's blew cold air as the coils would never get beyond 80 deg. We had to use a scissors lift to install the new piping sets. The client was extremely fussy for the "look". This building is featured in several architectural books as a prime example of NW Architecture.

The cool thing about this "Great Room" is a Doug fir log that was milled on the site that's 24"x24" by 92Feet long,(It weighs over 9000lbs.) hanging from the ceiling. One of the mill's sawblades is also hung. Attached is the story on the log, which I left in full size JPEG. The system has a Viessmann RN310 staged boiler as the heat source.

The facility was the original site of the Blakely sawmill, the largest in the world c1900. The band saw cut a log up to 16ft in diameter.
