No heat in all 6 zones

Thank you for the input! I have 2 transformers and measured 24V out of both of them. The boiler is used only for heat. I checked the wiring and it looked fine but may have to check again. Not sure if I am missing some other control.

No heat in all 6 zones

I have a gas boiler with one Taco circulator, six zones and six Taco zone valves . I wasn't getting heat in any of the zones with all the thermostats turned up. The pressure on the boiler was 15lbs for a 2 story, the temperature is between 160-180, the boiler fires on and off and you can hear the circulator running if you put a screwdriver to your ear to it.

I measured voltage at the zone valves and am not getting 24 volts to any of them so figured they are not opening. I have 2 transformers on the wall that both put out 24v and a relay that clicks on and off ok. For now, I just manually opened all the zone valves and got heat in all the zones. What am I missing? Why don't I have 24V at any of the zone valves so they can open when there is a call for heat? Thanks!

George re-check the wiring to the zone valves.

If those are the Gold head or green head

zone valves you need two 40va tranformers or one larger one, one for every three zone valves if a 4ova T-former, so either your transformer(s) went south or a broken wire would be my first thoughts.

    What kind of zone valves.

Could be a main 24 volt wire got cut and that's why all zones are down.
One other thought that crops up, if you have indirect water heater with priority off boiler, that zone valve may be bad or something not circulating to HW tank causing priority to keep all heating zones off and due to tank not heating, it never shuts off. If indirect, check it, could be source.

It seems to me that if the circulator is running, the zones valves are open with the end switches made. Unless they are all wired to a zone panel.

Maybe the system is air bound. Can you bleed any radiators?

Good point. If the system was air bound though, would I have gotten heat when I opened up all the zone valves manually?

    Priority

Maybe the priority switch is "on"? Or maybe the priority relay contacts are welded locking out the other zones? -DF

I checked all the wiring and I have 24v out of the 2 transformers. I dont have 24V at the zone valves when they are all connected in parallel but If I disconnect the first zone valve I do have 24 v coming in to them though. Not sure why I dont have 24v when I connect them back up. Perhaps one of the 2 transformers is putting out 24v but not enough current? Would any of the electronics inside the boiler affect this?

    Thanks!

It turned out to be a loose wire... thanks for all your help.
