Post's.byTime Stamp?
I understand that (the wall) is in diff. time zones, But it sometimes becomes a big mumbo jombo of posts .And times all mixed up! i.e. I'll answer or ask someone... and they will answer back and (we are in the same area) but a day later every thing is mixed up and does not make sense .Why is that? And can that be fixed? Is that something INVISION can fix?.Is it some setting on my side?Maybe post should stay the same way they came in (By time). just asking, Richard from Heatmeister.0 -
Hello
Is there a central time Kinda like pilot's have ? YU know Greenwich or something like that. or is it just allways 5 o clock somewhere. Yu know 17:00 Hr as per military time! I guess if it is not broke do not fix it..HM.0 -
Anybody.Any input? BUMP0 -
Yes.at 20:01 your time,Which is 18:01 my time.I Think?0 -
So far nothing is getting mixed up here, but if you check the other forum the posts /dates / times get all up mixed mean Do know what you? OR Times get all mixed up ,do you Know what i Mean?0 -
Perhaps I misunderstand, and
I hope the following makes some sense.
The postings are not restricted to a sequential list based on time & date. Let us say the original poster begins a thread on the 1st of the month (for example) and the discussion begins. I might join in on the 3rd, after twenty postings. My response would only appear at the end of the thread if I posted in reply to the last posting or to its immediate parent posting. There might be lots of traffic and various levels of indentation (showing the parent/child relationship). Thus if I posted a reply at the original posting, rather than at the bottom of the thread, my post would appear out of sequence.
Or maybe I don't understand the issue.

An example (I think)
Is this what you mean by being out of sequence? I posted it after the longer post below.0 -
And, Or to Make it very clear i.e.: Joe posts on the 1st of the month .Bill post on the 2nd . and mark on the 3th .............. But Bill s post shows AS A First post ....Mark's as a Second post......... and joes as a 3th post.... We are talking about Days that are all mixed up!!!! all i am saying that it makes it very hard to follow a conversation when something is posted out of sequence. Does this not Matter.
It is very confusing you must address the other by name and time and even then they're answer may be posted (Two days later) AHEAD of your question.!!!0 -
yes the 9:02 post should NOT be ahead of the others! ???0 -
test
Der, It's like a time machine. If you know how to navigate you can go back in time! There was an error rendering this rich post.

Yes it should
If it's in reply to another post, it has to be in line with that post. Otherwise, you'd have to name your response to whoever you were replying to. If they were linear by time it would be confusing as you wouldn't know who someone was speaking to directly. The time doesn't matter, the placement does.
If I wanted to respond to a specific question (post), posted on Monday, but I did it on Wednesday, how would anybody know what I was referring to or talking about if my post were buried 30 posts down because of the time it was posted ? You'd have to quote constantly and endlessly to make sense and the pages and bandwidth would get very full, very quickly.0 -
Bullet Points
It would be nice see things chronologically, but if you want to reply to someone's post, you will break that chronological chain.
If I am understanding you correctly, your request would be to not break that chain and posts can only then be sequential.
What about using the "Post New Message In This Topic" as a sub-header and then whoever responds to that sub-header shows as a (non-staggered)"Bullet-Point" for the duration or until someone steers the thread in a different direction by "Post New Message In This Topic"?
It seems to be structured that way now, maybe we just need to adhere to some guidelines.0 -
The beauty of it all . . .
That's the power of The Wall - where the answer regularly appears before my question!
Or maybe it's the HeatingHelp time zone?
The non-sequential postings can be confusing, but I agree with the observation that a strictly sequential list could become quite cumbersome.
I suppose it might be possible to offer alternative posting sequences (only new posts, strictly sequential, the way it is now, something else).0 -
options
Mrheatmeister, If you click on options on the header bar above your post here, I think you can change the way things are displayed.0 -
I think things are fine as they are. OTT and Firedragon's site work in a linear fashion. It becomes a little weird to respond to a question 8 posts back, but that is why they have the quote option.
In the smaller threads here it's not much of an issue. In the large threads it's kind of nice to have multiple conversations going on, at different thread levels.0
