Does it work ?

What type of floor surface is above ? Is it the main source of heat ? Supplemental ? Why wasn't the tubing attached to the subfloor , at the least ?

Do you have a link to the original post ?

  • From another great \"mentor\",

    And I quote;

    Dave,

I just came across the photo you posted of plateless staple up on the wall (attached).
I've been stressing how poor a technique this is for years and would
love to use this photo (with your permission) as an example of what
    NOT to do.
Would this be acceptable to you?

If so I would like to credit you as the source of the photo whenever
it is used. If you would like your name as the source of the photo
(but certainly not the installer) I would need your full name and
    company name.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks, Siggy

A very kind man,, and the funny thing is,, I posted a few of these pics a year ago,, but was chastised by you guys as to how great this install actually was!
Could it be that "wallies" are sometimes wrong?
I bet it WILL look that way,, as no-one will have the "guts" or knowledge(except Dan or Pat Lindhart(on steam), to challenge him!

    Most certainly I will not!

    Dave
  • great install?!

plates or not, it's not even on the floor under-surface. how could they possibly think that heating the joists would heat the floor? what, eventually?
  • Hey Mr. Vickers,,

I am glad you`re on my side and all,, but who are you again??

    Dave
  • who am i?

i'm not sure that this answers your question, but, i'm just another joe on the board with some schooling and several years of varied experience in the field. i did my plated staple-up 10ish yrs ago after reading dan's 'hrh - practical guide'
  • Ron,

the original posting?,,sheesh I can`t remember now,, but the last post I included this pic was "Bad Job Pics".
Siggy contacted me,, so I obliged.

mike,,, I was going to email you but,,,I was wrong and very callous,,I whole heartedly apologize to you!

    it DOES work

i have seen it work in cold climates, marquette Mi. this was way back in early 90's, i assume before heavy plates?
  • I would think,

of course it would work if the water temp was maybe 200+,,, not much savings on the condensing side though!

    Dave

    mike,,you OK??
