Is there such a thing as moving to much water through a boiler?

your question. Yes. I am not sure that is what is happening w/ you system though. We need more info. Circ model, heatloss, radiator size/ amount. You may need a pro to look at the whole system....kpc

Hot Water Boiler
WE have a Weil McClain Boiler series 78 set up for 450,000 btu input nat.gas. Its a five zone system. On extreamly cold days some zones have trouble satisifying the thermosate. Boiler cycles on and off ok shuts off at 180 deg f. WE noticed that the supply temp off the top of the boiler is only 160 or so. Are we pushing to much water through the boiler and it cannot pick up the heat required to satisfy the thermostates? Heat loss calc's check out ok.0 -
A 478 Weil
w/ input of 494 mbh has a flow rate of 40 GPM @ 20* Delta T. The recommended supply & return piping, @ the boiler, for that rate is 2 1/2".
