Should be clean as a whistle. flush once a week 'till it runs clear. primary safety control. if it fails , so does your boiler !!

Nipple Fell Out With 1/4 Turn. Also, Bowl had clumps of muck.
While draining some dirty water from my steam boiler, the outlet pipe swung on me about 90 degrees as I was juggling a pail to catch the water with one hand, and the nipple attached to the unit fell out. I couldn't get it back in so I got a new nipple which went in but I could only turn that one in about a turn and a half. It seems like the female connection thread at the bottom of the bowl is too tight or something. Is that normal?
Also, while the nipple was off, I stuck my finger up into the bowl and found a ton of clumped up muck. What I got out must have been enough to fill a third of the bottom half of the bowl. It had probably never been manually cleaned before. Is that normal?0 -
Time for a Pro
to disassemble, clean, & service the 47. New strainer & blow down valve too. Remember the Fram guy?0
