Beckett Sound Cover

I was perusing the Beckett web site and came across this little tidbit:
http://www.beckettcorp.com/product/productdetail.asp?detailid=13

While my system has been running great (knocking on wood) the new burner is pretty loud. Has anyone installed one of these with good results??

I didn't see the NX product on the Beckett web site. The only one they seem to have is the "sound cover".

DOH! The NX is a burner, not a cover. I didn't know what you were referring to. Replacing a new AFG doesn't make much sense.

    cover

Actually Jon, Beckett has had a cover available for over 20 years. The newest version works very well, I recommend it highly.

    barometric's

the pic's of the two boilers, show the baro's on top of the boilers.there should be at least 12" seperation from the baro' and the test hole . that's to prevent the testing equipment from pulling in dillusion air from the baro' and getting a wrong reading from your testing equipment.

  • From my experience, most customers don't like the low end rumble of a 3450 burner. This is especially true if they previously had a 1725 burner. The sound cover will block out alot of the higher frequency noises. First you should identify what the noise is that you want to muffle. Salespeople will sometimes list the cover as a benefit and the customer expects that it will block out all operating sound. It will not. I've seen some homemade muffling devices on the vent piping. One customer still complained of the noise. The noise was the sound of the combustion gases going up the chimney and could be heard through the fireplace upstairs.
